About The Acupuncturist

Tzyhyuan Sun, L.Ac., R.A.

MSOM, Dongguk University Los Angeles

MSAAD, Columbia University
BArch, Tunghai University (Taiwan, ROC)

As a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist, Tzyhyuan has been focusing his practice on helping patients regain vibrant health through restoring disturbed inner balances using varieties of treatment modalities of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Rather than merely dealing with pains and symptoms manifested, his usual treatment strategy is to place equal emphasis on having problems resolved at the root - disturbed balances found within the patient in and among various systems. This approach usually leads to longer lasting treatment effects, as well as re-initiation of a patient’s self healing process.

He is also a licensed architect and had practiced architecture for many years prior to his becoming a full time TCM practitioner. During the years when matters involving buildings design were his primary concerns, he always kept with him a copy of “Inner Classic” – the ancient classic which lays the foundation of Traditional Chinese medicine. Through years of architecture and TCM practices and researches, he has cultivated some precious insights how the built physical environments can affect our mental and physical well being, and these insights has deepened his understanding of fundamental theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine in which human beings are microcosm of its space-time environments around.

Tzyhyuan graduated with the high honor of Excellent Internship Award from Dongguk University Los Angeles, where he earned many awards of academic achievements throughout the years, and finally the degree of Master of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Prior to and during the school years, he supplemented his study with private training under a master herbalist who has over 40 years of experiences practicing herbal medicine. Besides academic and clinical training, Tzyhyuan has been practicing meditation and qi-gong, which he discovered and started to practice at the age of early 20’s. With guidance from his master teachers he still maintains his practice well into present days. These practices have enabled him to see much clear how physical discomforts and pains can be resulted from unchecked mental turbulence and vice versa, as well as how our well being can be achieved and maintained by cultivating and restoring the harmony within.
